Queerness is a transitional state of being. It is neither defined by time or place and yet is bound by both.
My small-scale forms reference the body and bend the line between abstract and figurative form, as if they are dolls playing out singular moments in queer life. In varying shades of glossy pinks, the sleek forms sit in pairs atop transparent, fabricated pedestals, claiming space and time for formative instances that have passed and allowing mere seconds to exist indefinitely.
In each piece, I portray the inherent emotional scars left behind by young love within queer relationships and sexual encounters. By using the body within digital technologies such as 3D printing and laser-etching, the work becomes manufactured and embodies the seductive ambiguity found within these defining moments as forms intertwine and build tension between themselves. Building on the industrial nature of digital fabrication, the amorphous forms and panels seem highly processed, as though they have no control of their identity, actions, or being and are suffering from a loss of self. Bound in their own staged spaces, the forms and panels aim to provoke, create intimacy, and entice, asking to be played with as they stand frozen within their fabricated places.
